Business continuity is yet another popular topic among the questions we receive in our company inbox. To that, we came up with a blogpost providing answers to some of the most common questions on the issue.

Here it is:

Q: What’s the difference between data recovery and business continuity? Some say it is the same thing. Is that right?

Data recovery and business continuity are not the same thing effectively. In fact, data recovery is only a part of business continuity and is the process of making data available for recovery in the event of a disaster. For example, data can be safely stored in a secondary site which is not connected to business operations.

Business continuity, on the other hand, is all about accessing and utilizing this data to maintain uninterrupted operations. It involves extensive planning and management to secure the operational capacity of different business functions in case the primary site of an organization becomes consistent and uninterrupted.

Q: Will my company’s data be available for recovery during the disaster or after it? This is important for my business continuity plan.

In case you have chosen to work with a data center providing you guaranteed working space and equipment, such as Lamda Hellix, then your data will be available immediately.

Well, you can never know that unless you see it happening in real life.

According to Gartner's Business Continuity Management Program Methodology, even with a comprehensive plan in place, few things can still go wrong while recovering mission-critical business applications. Yet, having a well-tested BC plan in place is the most appropriate form of action you can take to ensure resilience and continuity.

Under all circumstances, make sure you work closely with a trustworthy business continuity services provider, such as Lamda Hellix.
